Guarding Your Heart and Mind

Guarding Your Heart and Mind

Proverbs 4:23 - Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Have you ever noticed how much your thoughts affect your peace?

The things we watch, listen to, and think about throughout the day don’t just pass through, they stay with us. They shape how we feel, how we respond, and even how we see ourselves.

It’s no surprise that when our minds are filled with worry, comparison, or negativity, our peace starts to slip away.

But God invites us into something better.

He calls us to be intentional about what we allow into our hearts and minds. Not because He wants to restrict us, but because He wants to protect us.

Guarding your heart isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being aware. It’s about recognizing that not every thought deserves your attention, and not every voice deserves your agreement.

When anxious or negative thoughts come (and they will), you don’t have to accept them as truth. You can pause, bring them to God, and replace them with what He says about you. That’s how you protect your peace.

Peace isn’t just something we receive once, it’s something we learn to steward daily. And the more we guard what we let in, the more space we create for God’s peace to stay.

Maybe today is a good moment to pause and talk to God about what’s been filling your mind.
